There are many laws at the local, state and national level to protect our waterways, but very few mechanisms to enforce those laws. When the Water is threatened by pollution it can not speak up and defend itself.
The Water needs a voice and the COASTKEEPER is that voice.
A Waterkeeper program advocates compliance with environmental laws, responds to citizen complaints, identifies problems which affect the program's identified body of water and devises appropriate remedies to address the problems.
